Well done to students Senan Shortall, Joe Gibbons, Fionn Breslin, Lorcan Robinson, Jake Bickerdike and Yuri Keating who along with their teacher Ms. Maguire represented the school in completing a 100km cycle on Sat 9th May as part of the annual Cycle Against Suicide. Day 13 of a 14 day cycle around the island of Ireland saw over 600 cyclists leave Scoil Criost Ri and St. Marys CBS in Portlaoise and cycle to Mullingar via Tullamore. The aim of the cycle is to raise awareness for the message that ‘Its OK not to feel OK and its absolutely OK to ask for help” and the last two weeks has seen thousands of students, teachers and general public young and old cycle together ‘Shoulder to shoulder to break the cycle of suicide on the island of Ireland’. Thankfully the weather behaved itself and everyone enjoyed the day and found it a very worthwhile experience. The school are running a shorter school spin in support of Cycle Against Suicide on Fri 15th May at 12pm. All students, teachers and parents are welcome to take part in either of our 10km or 40km spins. Registration forms are available in the school all week. Helmets compulsory.
