Ardscoil Na Trionoide is very proud to have three Junior Choirs, one in each of First, Second and Third Year. Our vision is to have a choir in every year group, and this is being phased in over the next couple of years.

The choirs meet once a week for general rehearsals where breathing techniques, fun warm-up exercises and basic music literacy are included as much as possible alongside a growing, vibrant repertoire. The choirs are conducted by Mr. Frank Copeland and accompanied on piano by Ms. Aishling Carter and Mr. Aidan Farrell.

While students do not need to be musically literate to join the choir, admission to one of our choirs is based on a short audition, usually held at the beginning of each academic year. This audition determines a student’s basic “ear” for music, as well as determining their voice placement.

The choirs’ performances are in high demand for several school functions during the year, including our Opening of the School Year Mass and our annual Christmas Service in the parish church. They have also performed locally in the Dominican Church here in Athy as well as at competition level at the annual Wesley College and Navan Music Festivals.
