Micheal McCarthy enroute to scoring his first try of the game.

Ardscoil senior rugby squad put on another great display against a useful Greystones team in their 21-10 victory today.
Greystones took the early lead with a try in the corner that they failed to convert. Ardscoil responded with some excellent team work that eventually saw Michael McCarthy get over the line for a try. David Considine added the conversion to give Ardscoil the lead. The duo repeated the feat ten minutes later to extend Ardscoil’s lead to 14-5.
Greystones responded well and scored before half time leaving the game very much in the balance at the break.

As the second half progressed Greystones seemed to grow in belief and the four point margin was never going to be enough for Ardscoil. Eventually the break came 25 minutes into the second half, when magnificent team play saw the forwards drive over in the right hand corner. Second row Cathal Ryan grounding the ball. David Considine once again added the conversion to make it 21-10.

There was still plenty of rugby to be played by both sides. Both teams had good structure, were aggresive in attack and dogged in defense, but the score remained 21-10 leaving Ardscoil worthy winners. Well done to players, squad and Coach Joey Carbury.

Our next game is against Coláiste Bhride, Carnew (away). This game is currently scheduled for next Thursday, but this is a provisional date.
