Bodhrán Course for Teachers – Primary & Post Primary (5 CPD Hours)

Kildare Education Centre has purchased a full class set of 30 (14 inch) bodhráns. Following completion of the course, this set will be made available to schools on a rotational basis for a period of three weeks. To apply for short-term use of the set, at least one teacher from your school must have completed the course.

This practical and informative course has been designed to introduce teachers to the bodhrán. Teachers will be shown some simple beats and techniques on the bodhrán as well as some ideas of how to incorporate the bodhrán into the music curriculum.

Learning Across the Curriculum – Post Primary (2.5 hours)

Session Outline

The purpose of this session is to explore practices that enhance student understanding of texts in various subject disciplines.  Strategies will be discussed and practiced in the context of both current classroom realities and educational theory. Participants will consider issues involved in the inclusion of language and learning principles in their own subject discipline. Reference will be made to the National Literacy Strategy and the new Junior Cycle. This session will be of value to teachers of all text based subjects and participant will be provided with material for use in their classes
