Well done to all students in Ms. Maguire’s 1D C.S.P.E class who worked together to fill 13 shoe boxes with winter essentials for those unfortunate enough to be living on the streets of Dublin this winter.

The idea for the project came as the students studied about human dignity as part of their course and wanted to do something to contribute to the huge problem of homelessness in our country. As many students were familiar with filling shoe boxes for the Hope Foundation from their primary school days, the idea to contribute to the Luas ‘Fill a Tram’ project was born. This initiate was started last year by ‘Inner City Helping Homelessness ‘  and is supported by Transdev who run the Luas. It will now be an annual event.

Following some great wrapping and contributions of hats, gloves, toiletries and food, the class managed to fill 13 boxes which were then delivered to Connolly station in Dublin on Thursday 8th December. Over  5,000 boxes were delivered to fill the tram to help people in need this Christmas.

Wedone to all on a great team effort
