Laois Rose, our past pupil Teresa Brennan

Our past pupil Teresa Brennan was delighted to represent Laois at the Rose of Tralee festival this year. Teresa thrilled crowds at the Dome in Tralee as she shone in her interview with Daithí Ó Sé and as she delivered a superb singing performance ‘as Gaeilge’. Teresa attended Scoil Mhuire and later Ardscoil na Tríonóide. She graduated with the first class of the newly founded Ardscoil na Tríonóide in 2008. During her time at Ardscoil na Tríonóide she excelled in all areas.

She displayed a special talent for music and Irish and English debating. She was a member of the senior Irish Gael-Linn debating team that successfully reached the All-Ireland semi-finals in 2008 and she was also the Captain of the Concern Debating Team that reached the semi-finals for Scoil Mhuire the previous year.

Not surprisingly, Teresa won the Ardscoil na Tríonóide award for ‘Student of the Year’ in 2008. Her love of the Irish language prompted her to study Irish for five years at NUIG and went on to become a Gaelcholáiste teacher, She is now happily educating Irish and English in Colaiste Pobail Osraí, Kilkenny.

Her interests include Drama, Music and Developmental work. Her acting experience spans from Galway’s ‘Fregoli Theatre’ to Kilkenny’s Musical Society. She considers her greatest life achievements to date to be the developmental
work that she has done in Nepal and Ethiopia. She spent five weeks working with orphans in Nepal during summer 2012. Having received the Joe Rea bursary, She travelled to Ethiopia with Vita in January 2013 to research rural
youth issues. She is still working closely with Vita in order to build upon their success in setting up a youth group in rural Ethiopia and to strengthen their connections with Development Education.

Teresa continues to have strong links with Ardscoil na Tríonóide and has promised to come visit students in the near future. Táimid fíor-bhródúil as d’éacht iontach a Threasa, maith thú!
