The Year Head is a central figure in the school community. He/She provides a critical link between senior management and tutors/class teachers. The remit of the Year Head spreads across three areas of responsibility with regard to the students in his/her care. These are: Academic Progression, Pastoral Care and Discipline.
Duties of the Year Head
The following is a list but not exhaustive of the duties of a Year Head in Ardscoil na Tríonóide.
Monitor attendance and punctuality and follow up as necessary.
Monitor behaviour and implement school policy.
Deal with students referred by Teachers and keep records.
Liaise with class tutors re academic performance.
Hold assemblies of Year Group.
Liaise with parents.
Report to weekly meetings of Year Head/Deputy Principal/Principal.
Give a report at staff meetings.

Year Heads will receive support from the Principal and Deputy Principal to assist them in carrying out their role. A weekly meeting of Year Heads is held that gives the opportunity to highlight issues that need to be addressed and identify students who may need specific support.
