The u14 girls football team have qualified for a semi final thanks to their nail-biting win over St. Mary’s Naas today Friday (5/5).

A Zoe Harris goal in injury time was the difference between the two sides.

Ardscoil went in 2 points down at half time after a tough first half playing into the wind. Goals from Tara Purcell and Emily Lacey and a goal and a point from Zoe Harris kept the scoreboard ticking over.

The second half was an extremely tense affair, with Ardscoil starting strongest and gaining an 8 point lead. However St. Mary’s fought back and managed to draw level with some strong running and 2 well taken goals. St. Mary’s could have taken the lead if it weren’t for some superb defending from Ardscoil’s backs,  notably Grace King, Hannah Malone and team captain Rebecca Corcoran.

The game looked to be heading for extra time when Ardscoil won a free, worked the ball quickly up to the scoring end and Zoe Harris made absolutely no mistake and buried the ball into the back of the net.

Congratulations girls and best of luck in the semi final!
